Lagkada Beach – Diaskari – Lagkada

Sulla costa meridionale di Creta isola, a est di Ierapetra, troviamo una pletora di spiagge meravigliose. Uno dei luoghi migliori, ma ancora relativamente tranquillo, è quello di Makry Gialos e i vicini insediamenti di Analipsis e Lagkada. Qui si trovano due splendide spiagge, denominate Diaskari e Lagkada that are worth visitors’ attention!

Spiaggia di Diaskari

Diaskari è una spiaggia particolarmente bella e tranquilla. La maggior parte non è organizzata, ma troverete alcuni lettini e ombrelloni a noleggio vicino alle taverne. Si estende a lungo con splendide acque cristalline e abbondanti tamerici che crescono intorno al luogo. La sabbia bianca incornicia la spiaggia e il fondale. Diaskari is ideal for camping and the east part is also popular with nudists. Nearby you will find some rooms for rent and a small taverna. Its name, according to local tradition, comes from the Greek ‘Dioscuroi’. In antiquity, the inhabitants here were mostly sailors, who raised a temple to their patron gods, namely the Dioscuroi, (Castore e Polluce) figli di Zeus. Durante la permanenza nell'area, è possibile visitare la villa minoica, risalente al secondo periodo del palazzo, scavata a Vigla (poco a nord del villaggio) negli anni '70, fu distrutta da un incendio intorno al 1450 a.C.. Si può anche fare una passeggiata fino a Karavospilio, una grotta interessante, situata sulla spiaggia.

Spiaggia di Lagkada

Lagkada La spiaggia si trova anche nella Baia di Makrigialos ad est di Diaskari. This is another quiet and sheltered swimming spot with soft sand, small pebbles and stunning waters – most suitable for those wishing to relax away from the crowds. The beach is exposed to the winds and there are no amenities for visitors so it is best to come prepared. There are plenty of smooth rocks on the sea-bed that can become slippery. The beach is a favorite for freedom campers, for the privacy it offers and the tamarisks and the shade they cast. Clothing is optional in many parts of the beach so do not be surprised if you see nudists. The two beaches to the east, just before Moni Kapsi, sono Ammoudi (or the Dragon’s Cave) and Kalo Nero.
