De meeste routes in dit deel zijn ontworpen om per auto, motorfiets of voor de avonturiers zelfs per fiets te worden afgelegd. Zij kunnen dienen als basisrichtsnoeren voor bezoekers die Kreta over een langere periode beter willen leren kennen. Er zij echter op gewezen dat het in sommige gevallen niet mogelijk is een route in één dag af te leggen, vanwege het complexe terrein van het eiland. Dit geldt vooral als u alle bezienswaardigheden van elke route wilt zien; in dat geval moet u rekening houden met meerdere stops en vertragingen.
