Plaża Agioi Apostoloi
One of the most popular and easily accessible beaches in Chania is Agioi Apostoloi. Located 4 km east of the city centre in the area of Daratso, this is an area popular with holiday-goers, with plenty of accommodation options and a variety of restaurants, shops and amenities located nearby. The Old National Road Kissamou – Chanion is lined with hotels and room-to-let signs and is a long stretch of beaches until you reach Kolymvari.

Agioi Apostoli is practically a cluster of three small and sheltered bays separated by rocky outcrops. They have sand, blue-green waters and plenty of vegetation all around. The name, meaning Holy Apostles, comes from a church near the beach on a small hill. You can walk up the hill for a panoramic view of the bays and the surrounding area; the church is very popular during the summer for weddings. The beach is popular and well-organized, with umbrellas, sunbeds and showers – and there is also a lifeguard in one section of the beach. You will also be spoilt for choice when it comes to water-sports, not to mention the close proximity to a tennis court, volleyball court and football fields. A vast park is situated behind the beach, which attracts locals and tourists for their afternoon walk or running session. Depending on the direction of the wind, some of the bays may be calmer for families with children. The area closest to the chapel is organized but as you walk westwards, there are a lot of quiet unorganized spaces to sit and relax with a book. After the east end of the bay, we find Chrissi Akti beach, known for its golden sand.
