Triopetra Beach

Triopetra Beach

Also available in English German French Italian Dutch Polish

The beach of Triopetra is sandy, with crystal clear waters and breathtaking sunsets. In the distance, you may even be able to spot the island of Gavdos! It is the perfect setting for a peaceful and relaxing swim without the busy crowds. Its name comes from its dominating feature: three impressive and slippery rocks that emerge from the blue sea and envelop it from all sides. The two main strands are referred to as “large” (west side) and “small” (east side). Essentially, this natural division is due to the small and rocky promontory that separates the two bays. At the edge of the promontory, we find the three impressively high rocks that create this fascinating setting. Next to the rocks, there is a beautiful and spacious cave, which you can visit. During certain times of the day, the cave offers natural shade to visitors. This relaxing beach is also home to yoga retreats during the summer months. YogaRocks, which is named after the stunning rocky formations found on the beach, offers accommodation nearby and lessons on the beach; at night meditation sessions take place by the shore, under the starry sky. Little Triopetra is a mildly organized beach with umbrellas, sunbeds and showers, whilst nearby you will find tavernas and rent-rooms. At the east end, called Stomio (the Mouth), there is a small harbour. The east part of Large i is similarly organized, you will find a few umbrellas, sunbeds and showers, and a couple of tavernas located right on the beachfront as well as a few accommodation options.

Moving west from Triopetra, you will come across the beaches of Ligres, Katsouni, Podare, Agia Foteini and Gialopotama, before reaching Preveli. The road travels inland, through various charming villages; make sure to estimate extra driving time through the narrow roads.
