Walk the E4 European trail
The Ε4 European walking trail begins in Spain and enters Greece from the North before making its way down to the Peloponnese peninsula. In Crete, the path begins in Kissamos at the northwestern point and finishes in Zakros on the eastern coast. You can choose to walk parts or all of the over 560 km path that crosses all the major Cretan mountains (Lefka Ori, Kedros, Psiloritis, Dikti and Thripti) through 91 unique routes.
The paths will take you through regions with special historical and natural value, and introduce you to another side of Crete island few people get to see so closely. A lot of these pathways are built on ancient trails and connected the different kingdoms, cities or regions as trading routes.
