A trip to Crete island is not complete without a traditional Cretan evening.
Embrace the unique sounds of the music and the beauty of the traditional Cretan dances as you dive deep within the culture of the island.
Our adventure begins with a visit to the Botanical Park of Chania and a buffet meal made with local products. You will have the opportunity to taste a few varieties of local wine. After the afternoon meal, there will be plenty of time to explore the botanical park, where you will come across hundreds of fruit trees, dozens of herbs and even wild birds. A chance to awaken your senses just like the residents of Chania did hundreds of years ago within this green oasis.
As it gets closer to sunset, it is time for dinner and the main event of this event. In the delightful outdoor amphitheater, you will experience a unique Cretan show with traditional music and dances. You will learn about the origins and meaning of the costumes and each type of Cretan dance. Audience participation is actively encouraged and by the end of the evening you will have undoubtedly learnt some new dance moves to show to your friends back home!
The Cretan musical tradition is considered to be the most ‘alive’ of those found in Greece. Not only does it continue to evolve by absorbing creative contemporary musical elements, but at the same time manages to express and comment upon the modern realities and challenges of life. It will soon become obvious that the character of Crete and the Cretans is reflected in the music and dance. This is one of the very few places in Greece where the traditional music heritage is growing rather than remaining static or withering away.
