This is a three day event, taking place annually in July. Dedicated to Aghios Hyakinthos – the Cretan ‘Saint of Love’, it takes place in an area specially prepared for it, a little outside the village of Anogia, up the Psiloriti slopes (at 1200 m up!).
Each year the Festival has a different theme, but usually this marries traditional Cretan music and folk traditions with similar ones from other parts of Greece, or even from further afield in the Mediterranean.
At the same time, traditional cheese-making processes are on display – whilst guests can consume raki and other Cretan delicacies.
