One of the most significant ethnological museums of Greece and the most important of Crete is located in the village of Vori, next to Phaestos. In the Museum of Cretan Ethnology, one can admire exhibits that represent the highest artistic expressions of the Cretan folk culture, from the 10th century until today, displayed in impressive unities.
Among the most characteristic groups of exhibits are those consisting of articles of weaving, building construction tools, tools used by skilled workmen (stonemason, builder, etc), basketry items, articles of pottery, tools seldom used or unknown today, objects used in commercial trade (scales, weights and measures, etc), ecclesiastical objects, weapons and ammunition, etc.
From 2001, a Research Centre that accommodates conservation laboratories, photography facilities, offices, a 15-bed hostel and a multiple use hall, can also be found in the museum.
